Verification of „Remote Sensing Devices“ (RSD)

“State of the art” wind measurements are based on remote sensing devices (RSD) for example LiDAR, SODAR, etc. In order to carry out reliable and traceable RSD measurements, the sensor must undergo a verification test before and after each measurement campaign (similar to a calibration). This requirement for RSD has meanwhile been set down in several standards and normative guidelines. The complete traceability of RSD measurement results to national standards is a basic requirement for the internationally recognized quality of the measurement results.

The EWS Consulting Experts…

  • perform RSD verifications for SODAR and LiDAR sensors
  • carry out verifications on met masts of the EWS Testing Center at a height of over 140 meters
  • enable “Stand-Alone” measurements of wind potential and site-specific wind conditions according to FGW TR6 or MEASNET

RSD verifications performed by EWS

  • enable power curve and performance measurements by means of RSD
  • ensure the traceability of RSD measurement results to national standards
  • fully comply with IEC EN 61400-12-1:2017 Ed.2
