Wind Farms in Weinviertel
82 wind turbines with a total capacity of 255.4 MW were installed almost simultaneously in Weinviertel by a wide variety of operators. In addition to the construction management of each individual wind farm, the requirements of the authorities as well as the interests of the operators had to be coordinated so that the building process could be optimized through cooperation.
EWS was primarily responsible and provided important services for the following wind farms (in alphabetical order):
Special characteristics
- 11 parallel projects – 82 wind turbines
- Installed capacity of 255.40 MW
- 8 wind farm owners (in alphabetical order: evn naturkraft, Gugelwind, ImWind, smart energy, WEB, Wien Energie, Windkraft Simonsfeld, WindLandKraft)
- 3 different wind turbine manufacturers (Enercon, Senvion, Vestas)
- 5 different wind turbine types
- First-time erection of a Vestas V126 in Austria
- Ecological construction management for approx. 50 MW
- Construction of cable lines of a length of around 165 km
- Shared cable routes in extremely confined space were implemented. Up to four cable systems including diverse conduits, grounding systems and warning bands were installed in part next to existing underground installations. This required continuous coordination with all parties involved (property owners, authorities, wind farm operators, construction companies) who carried out the work successfully according to EWS standards.
- Coordination of shared transport routes for various wind farms in close cooperation with the building authorities
- Coordination of the grid connection for various wind farms to a common cable route to the feed-in point
Challenge:
- Parallel to Wind Farm Großkrut-Hauskirchen-Wilfersdorf is the ongoing large project „Autobahn A5“
The wind farm is separated from the Nordautobahn A5 in two parts. The construction phase of these two large-scale construction sites was simultaneous for the most part. Due to construction on the expansion of the autobahn, several access roads had to be changed or closed. This was particularly a challenge to the delivery of the large turbine components and the cranes. The wind turbine components could be delivered without any problems due to EWS active support in forming constructive cooperation between wind farm owners, the ARGE-Autobahn as well as the wind turbine manufacturers and deliverers.
