Partial discharge measurements

436

Partial discharge measurements are a proven, non-destructive  method for condition assessment of medium voltage cables. They play an important role in maintenance based on the actual condition of wind turbines. Periodic partial discharges are often prescribed by the authorities in order to detect premature aging of cables and to prevent their failure.

The EWS Consulting Experts...

  • check the cables and terminations within the medium voltage network of wind farms and in the wind turbines for partial discharges
  • analyse the measurement results
  • compare the results with existing earlier measurements to evaluate temporal trends
  • write a detailed test report
  • find solutions in cooperation with the operator or owner for conspicuous results

Unplanned downtimes, which sometimes affect the entire wind farm, can be avoided with the help of partial discharge measurements.
