Successful citizen participation for EWS SONNENFELD MINING

For the second time, EWS has offered a citizen participation in an Agri-PV plant and again the funding target of € 300,000 was reached in a short time and with a very high share of the regional population of sensational 88%.
The climate protection project “EWS Sonnenfeld Mining” is a joint project of EWS Sonnenfeld MIN FlexCo and Energie AG OÖ Erzeugung. Construction of the agri-PV plant in the Innviertel municipality of Mining will begin in late summer this year and will supply electricity for around 5,042 households after a short construction period of around 6 months.
To partially finance the project on a total area of around 18 hectares, with agricultural use continuing to take precedence on 80% of the area, EWS offered a financial investment opportunity for its part of the plant in April 2025 in the form of a crowdinvest project via the investinggreen.at platform.

Citizens were able to participate in the green electricity project in their community with small amounts and enhance their own living space through a sustainable climate protection project.

Citizen investors thus actively contribute to the energy transition and strengthen identification with and commitment to a sustainable energy supply.

ECOLOGICAL, DOMESTIC ENERGY production AT THE EWS SONNENFELD®

At an EWS Sonnenfeld® such as the one in the municipality of Mining, the aim is not only to generate solar power but also to preserve and continue to use good grassland and farmland. 80% of the area will continue to be used for agriculture and 18% as biodiversity strips. With an actual area requirement of only 2% for solar power generation, the EWS solar field in Mining with an output of 13.24 MWp will feed around 18 million kWh into the grid every year from spring 2026, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of around 5,042 households.

WHY IS REGIONALLY, CHEAPLY AND SAFELY GENERATED, CO2-FREE ENERGY PRODUCTION FROM WIND AND SUN A WORTHWHILE INVESTMENT IN A GOOD FUTURE?

• We still need a lot of emission-free power generation, more energy efficiency and energy saving in order to satisfy the constantly growing energy consumption.
• In order to stop the progression of global warming, it is necessary to drive forward the rapid expansion of renewable energies in line with national and European climate targets and to implement projects quickly.
• We can only achieve independence from expensive, dirty energy imports by using free and infinite domestic resources such as wind, sun and water.
• Regional renewable energy projects strengthen the Upper Austrian/domestic economy, create good jobs, offer greater electricity price stability and ensure greater energy supply security.
